We are starting 2026 with the same team, the same expertise and the same conviction – but with a clearer view on what offshore wind and offshore hydrogen now need to succeed in Europe.
At the turn of the year, both sectors stand at a decisive transition point. Offshore wind has reached system relevance, yet investment conditions remain challenging. Price volatility, grid constraints, supply-chain pressure and complex permitting processes are testing project economics across Europe. Ambition is high – but delivery requires market frameworks that restore planning security and bankability.
Offshore hydrogen is moving from strategic debate into concrete planning and early project structuring. Concepts for offshore electrolysis, hydrogen-ready grids and cross-border infrastructure are on the table. What is still missing is alignment: between power and hydrogen markets, between regulation and reality, and between national ambitions and European system efficiency.
This is where integration becomes decisive. Offshore wind, offshore grid connections (ONAS), hydrogen production and European interconnection can no longer be treated as separate layers. They must be designed as one system – technically, economically and regulatorily – if we want to reduce system costs, unlock scale and keep Europe competitive.
As the AquaConsult consortium, we enter 2026 with exactly this focus: connecting offshore wind and hydrogen where projects become investable, system-relevant and implementable. Together with our partners, we work at the intersection of markets, infrastructure and execution – where clarity matters more than headlines.
New year, same team – and a shared determination to turn Europe’s offshore ambitions into resilient energy systems.
